Rust colored marks on sunroom ceiling

We have a large sunroom that was installed 20 years ago. The ceiling is aluminum panels typical of this type sunroom. In several locations there are rust colored streaks. We are remodeling the interior and would like to know if there is a product that would remove the streaks and/or can this type ceiling be painted.

Welcome to the forums!

I'm not sure what products would be good for removing rust stains .... but some of the others might.
Aluminum paints well, just be sure it's clean and chalk free, then apply a coat or two of a quality latex paint.

CLR is supposed to work on rust but I don't know whether it would damage aluminum. If the label doesn't say otherwise, I'd try that in an inconspicuous spot to see.

Got a picture?
If there's rust stains than there would have to be a roof leak and steel fasteners someplace on that roof.
Before doing anything I'd be look at the top of the roof and dealing with that.
Just painting over rust is not going to do a thing and will bleed through the paint.
A product like "The Works" on a rag will wipe it right off. then wipe it off with a damp rag with water.

I've successfully painted over rust stains many times in the past. How bad they are determines whether or not a primer is needed. BUT I do agree that that any leaks need to be addressed to prevent the rust from reoccurring.
