Painting prepainted wainscoting panels
I purchased this wainscoting from lowes
https://www.lowes.com/pd/WallDesign-...-Panel/3740895
I'm painting them with this paint, also from lowes

Here's my issue. After painting two panels, I'm noticing that virtually anything hard that hits it causes paint to dent, which easily peels off. The paint is a primer and paint in one, but do I still need to primer the panels or is it the kind of paint that's the issue? It's labeled an "Acrylic paint" on the can but I've only heard of this for craft paints. I'm guessing maybe it's actually a latex based paint and I need an oil based paint to prevent this from happening?

I would have given it a light sanding to give the paint something to attach to, cleaned it off and used an enamel paint.
Should be no need to prime it.

I agree, a light sanding along with an enamel paint. Wall paint or cheap latex enamel won't preform well. Oil base, waterborne or a decent quality latex enamel should all do a decent job. Any sheen of enamel will work. My preference would be a waterborne enamel.

FWIW, one will generally find better products and advice in a paint store than a paint department.

It's been a little over a week now.
The paint surface I painted over was very smooth and hard, considering all I did was clean it I suppose I shouldn't be surprised it peels off so easily.
