How to paint bulkheads in basement?

The previous owners of my house went nuts boxing around everything in the basement. I think it looks like crap, but I'm not going to rip them out. I do want to repaint but wonder how you guys would paint these? The color of the walls or the ceiling?

Yea, I would have lowered the boxed in ares of combined into larger, simpler areas to minimize, but to each their own.

You really only have two options, leave as is with all vertical surfaces painted the wall color or you could take a few of the small drops and paint them the ceiling color which may hid them more than they are now!

What other unusual "improvements" have you found?

Since the wall kind of continues into the bulk heads I'd have painted it the way it currently is .... but there really isn't a right/wrong answer as it really boils down to what makes the homeowner happy.
