Using a Grayco Ultra 395 for Small Jobs

I own a Grayco Ultra 395 airless sprayer. Is there some kind of accessory I could buy (or make) that would allow me to use this sprayer, for small jobs, with a 2-gallon max container? I was thinking about buying a Grayco Truecoat 360 VSP for $200 but I just cannot justify spending that kind of money when I already have my Ultra 395. If I could somehow rig it to use the 1-gallon cans that would be great!

I'm not sure I understand the question, you should be able to pump paint out a 1 gallon can or 5 gallon bucket. The thing to remember if you are spraying out of a 1 gallon can it won't take much to suck it dry which is something you do not want to do with an airless!

The paint pickup and return line is too long and stiff to use with a 1-gallon can. The can would tip over. Perhaps a 2- or 3-gallon pail inside a 5-gallon bucket might be the way to go. I'm trying to make use of the $1,000 sprayer and not have to buy a $300 hand-held model to spray the 14 doors that I need to do.

There are many ways to secure the bucket where it won't tip over including setting it inside a bigger bucket. For spraying 14 doors I'd pour the paint in a 5 gallon bucket. You can always tip the bucket slightly to pump out the last of the paint. Just be sure you don't suck the pump dry!!
