Rusting Metal Louvers

We are about to paint the exterior of our house and I was wondering if there is anything that I can spray on a metal louver to stop or slow down the rusting. I'm just trying to preserve the new paint coating for as long as possible from the rust marks. Thanks

Sand it the best you can and then apply a rust inhibitive oil base primer. Most any exterior oil base paint will suffice for the top coat.

Sandblasting and painting with an automotive epoxy primer is easy to do or have done locally and will last a very long time.

Next step up would be sandblast and powder coat, that would be the last time you ever have to touch it!

Another option is to remove the steel louver panel and replace is with an aluminum or vinyl one.

Resealing kitchen benchtop (mission impossible)

So I have decided to refinish my kitchen benchtop, as it has looked too bad for too long. At the connections of the planks, the seal coat is bubbling up in some places, in other places it seems to have cracked and the connections looks pretty horrific. I am seeing holes where these connections are and I am pretty worried that the whole job is a do-over. Because the connections are looking so bad, I am thinking they need to be separated, the old glue removed and then to start from the beginning. Someone please tell me I am wrong, but you have to back it up with some sound theory as well :) I can remove the seal and see what is what, but being the kitchen bench, it can not afford to be out of action for long, so I need to plan ahead. Repainting older double hung windows

I am planning on repainting my bedroom double hung windows that have a little black mold on due to windows sweating in the fall. I've noticed that the some of the substance holding the glass in is missing. Would I need to treat the mold so that it doesn't show through the new paint? What would I need to refill where the substance holding the glass in is missing? Also, some of the paint on the sills is also off down to bare wood. What will I need to do so that this spot isn't noticeable after I paint? Just sand?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Read More
