Tape delaminated from wall/ceiling

I mean the tape that is placed on the seam between drywalls. It is delaminated at several spots from the ceiling/wall joint. I need to glue the tape back before painting. What kind of glue can I use?
Thank you.

You should cut and peel out any loose tape then retape and refinish it.

I agree. The joint compound under the paper tape acts as the adhesive. Sometimes not enough is applied or the j/c was thinned too much. The self adhesive mesh tape has always been problematic unless top coated with a setting compound to lock it down. As X stated, cut out the loose and retape/finish.

I have a similar problem in my garage. High heat and weather. I'm repairing as we speak because I'm ready to re-paint garage.

It happens a lot in garages but it has more to do with high humidity and the wall not being sealed properly with paint.

We had hurricanes a few times. The tape could have been lifted because of probable rain water intrusion though not seen from inside.

Before cutting out the lifted spots, let me ask if wall/ceiling joint has the tape on both sides?

This joint is in the high ceiling area. I noticed this lifting only when I went on a ladder to replace a ceiling light. I still would like to attempt gluing first. I am not ignoring your good advice.

The tape and mud is only applied to one side of the sheetrock. The side you can see. The other side is inside the wall and not accessible so you couldn't apply tape and mud even if you wanted to.

The tape is about 2 1/2" wide and it is folded in the corner. So you have about 1 1/4" on the ceiling and 1 1/4" on the wall.

Thank you for the explanation. Knowing now what I am dealing with, I may be able to slide some glue under and make it unnoticeable from 20 foot distance.

That's what I'm doing. Of course for me it's only a garage.
