Exterior vertical stain application help needed.
Hi all,
Im getting ready to re-stain my rough sawn cedar siding. It was prestained (all sides)at the factory and installed 4 yrs ago with TWP 1500 stains(1515 Honeytone and 1501 Cedar). Im reusing the same colors and have TWP recommended cleaners/brighteners.
The problem I'm having is how Im going to apply it efficiently. I had been planning to use an extension pole and staining pads, but my siding is in a vertical channel lap pattern(Siding profile) and Im not sure how I'm going to coat the recessed "channel" between each board. I've stopped at a couple local paint stores but no one has been very helpful.
I"m hoping maybe someone could point me towards a stain pad or lambswool product that would be deep enough to cover the channel in the same pass as the rest of the board and not have to make a separate pass with a brush or something.
I did have someone mention renting an airless but I have no experience, I would still need to back brush everything and I figure this is going to take me a few weekends and many back and forths to the rental place.
Thanks

Generally a 1" nap roller can be used to apply... it gets into the grooves, followed by a wide brush to backbrush everything. Sorry if that's not what you were hoping to hear. If you want to do it all in one pass maybe a magic wand would work. (JOKE)

I'd also recommend a 1" or better roller cover. You can get brush holders that screw onto the end of a roller pole if that will help you any. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Warner-A...FUxZwQodF_MBsg

I had been thinking that I would likely need/ want to back brush the narrow recessed areas but not everything.... hmmm... that would certainly make things harder(height)
Rollers kinda worry me that I won’t be patient enough to work slowly and not be flinging the stain all over me.
i found these that look like they might work decently to.
