Stucco paint sq ft per gallon
I am repainting the exterior stucco wall. Internet says 200-300 sq ft per gallon. Is 200 for fresh stucco and 300 for painted surface? Thank you.
PS: I am going to put Walmart Color Place Ultra 100% acrylic paint. Pressure washed. Paint is mostly intact.

Painted stucco won't require as much paint as bare stucco but bare stucco really should be primed first.
What shape is your existing paint in? If the paint is chalky [and won't wash off] you need to either apply a masonry sealer or add Flood's Emulsa Bond to the first coat of paint. As stated above how rough or what texture the stucco has determines how far a gallon of paint will go. Paint will go a lot further on a sand finish [smooth] stucco than it will on real rough stucco.

Since all my neighbors have the same stucco finish, I have no reference for smooth/rough. I used 4.5 gallons for 900 sq ft, that is, 200 sq ft per gallon. I suppose I have a rought stucco. Old paint was adhering well. It survived pressure wash.
Thank you.
