Can I use a siliconized acrylic caulk to paint over silicone caulk?

Have some messy silicone caulk lines around the top of my shower tiles. Wondering if a siliconized acrylic caulk will stick to it well enough to then paint over it?

Another idea is zinsser 123 primer. Anyone tried it over silicone?

Nothing is going to stick to that silicon, better just get the tools out and start removing.

BTW, as you obviously have found, using silicone in a shower is a mess, the siliconized caulks with micro band are the correct caulks to use!

The correct answer is that you need to use BIN pigmented shellac to prime 100% silicone. Sometimes 2 coats. Then it can be painted.

What is your definition of messy caulk? If it's messy the odds are paint won't fix it although as X stated a coat or two of pigmented shellac will make the silicone caulk paintable. Unless paint alone would make a big improvement I'd do like Marq suggested and cut out the silicone and recaulk it neatly.
