Primer paint is cracking

Hello

I recently stripped the wallpaper, filled and and sanded the walls of a bedroom of a house about 90 years old. I then applied 2 -3 coats of Leyland Acryllic Primer Undercoat. In some places this has lots of paterned cracking. It seems to be ok on the areas I have skim coated but not on the original wall plaster.

Please can someone advise me on what to do now? Did I use the wrong sort of Primer?

Also I have some Dulux oil based paint that I want to finish the walls off with. Will this be compatible with the Primer I have already used?

Many thanks in advance

Welcome to the forums!

I'm not familiar with that primer, is it latex or oil?
How well did you wash off the wallpaper adhesive? it sounds like leftover adhesive has caused the issues. Have you tried sanding the primer? Any special reason for using an oil base top coat?

He's in the UK !

Anytime you have checking (cracking) of paint or primer it's an indication of chemical incompatibility which sort of explains why it didn't crack /check with the skim coat.

I would sand it smooth and try an oil based primer in those areas.
