Trim outline showing through paint

I removed a chair rail and wainscotting trim. I sealed it with Gardz, joint compounded, sanded, and primed. After 1 coat of eggshell paint with primer, the outline of the removed trim and the primer is showing through. Is there a hope that another coat will fix the problem?

If the outline of the trim is still there, you must not have concealed it with enough joint compound in the first place. Paint does not hide texture problems, so no, another coat of paint won't help.

If it is only the lighter color that is the problem, then yes, another coat of paint will help. If you can still see or feel the bump where the old paint line was, that won't disappear with paint.

Ok, this was my thinking. What is the next step for me to fix it?

The photo makes it look worse than it is I think...the lighting in the room is yellow with a low light fixture...so shadows.
