Calculating Window and Door Trim
I'm installing 2 1/4" x 84" casing around 6 windows and a door. 4 of the windows are 47" x 47," the other 2 are 36" x 47" and the door is 82" x 36". Since I will be ordering the 2 1/4" x 84" pieces on line for delivery, how many of these pieces will I need?

Following is my math assuming no splicing and 45 degree cut corners.
FYI : The door side trims will be too short.

4 @ 47X47 = 16 pieces
2 @ 36X47 = 6 pieces
1 @ 82X36 = 3 pieces

Total = 25 pieces plus a few in case you screw up or get bad pieces,

It would be better if you could get 9' pieces. You would only need 14pc.

I can't find 9' but I found 10' which is a standard size. How many of those? Thanks.

14 pc. Plus however many you need for mistakes.

So, for 9' pieces I need 14 and 10' pieces I need 14?
