Trailblazer headlights delay

How do you adjust the headlight turnoff delay? I just had the serpentine belt and water pump replaced, and now I have noticed that my headlights stay on for about 5 minutes after turning the car off and before it was less than a minute. I have a 2006 Trailblazer LS with mostly just the standard equipment.

Do you still have your owners manual? Usually if the option to change the delay is available it will tell in the manual.

To change feature preferences, make sure the ignition is on and the vehicle is in PARK (P).
Press the customization button to scroll through the available customizable options.

Headlamp Delay
Press the customization button until HEADLAMP DELAY: 10 SEC appears in the display. To select your preference for how long the headlamps will stay on when you turn off the vehicle, press the select button while HEADLAMP DELAY: 10 SEC is displayed on the DIC. Pressing the select button will scroll through the following choices:
• HEADLAMP DELAY: 10 SEC (default)
• HEADLAMP DELAY: 20 SEC
• HEADLAMP DELAY: 40 SEC
• HEADLAMP DELAY: 1 MIN
• HEADLAMP DELAY: 2 MIN
• HEADLAMP DELAY: 3 MIN
• HEADLAMP DELAY: OFF
The amount of time you choose will be the amount of time that the headlamps stay on after you turn off the vehicle. If you choose OFF, the headlamps will turn off as soon as you turn off the vehicle. Choose one of the available options and press the customization button while it is displayed on the DIC to select it and move on to the next feature.

Yes, I read those directions in my owner's manual. However, nowhere does it show me where the customization button is.

I have looked in the owner's manual on every page that has anything to do with the headlamps and DIC. Maybe my trim model does not have this handy button meaning that I don't have the abiltiy to make adjustments. It just seems odd that the length of time increased since the car came back from the shop.

this is straight out of manual, Don;t know if you have this steering wheel.

Driver Information Center (DIC)
Your vehicle may have this feature. The Driver
Information Center (DIC) display is located on the
instrument panel cluster, below the speedometer. If your
vehicle has DIC buttons, they are located on the steering
wheel. The DIC can display information such as the
trip odometer, fuel economy, customization features, and
warning/status messages.
3-50
If your vehicle does not have DIC steering wheel
buttons, you will not have all of the features listed.
Scroll through the odometer and trip odometer by
pressing the trip odometer reset stem located on the
instrument panel cluster. Turn off, or acknowledge, DIC
messages by pressing the trip odometer reset stem.
See
Speedometer and Odometer on page 3-32
for
information on features for vehicles without DIC buttons

[Customization] Press this button to access the vehicle settings menu and customize the personal settings on your vehicle. If you don't have the i button on the wheel as shown in the picture then you can't change the headlamp delay and will need to see a dealer.

If your car does not have this option button as PJ has described but you're sure that the delay was a lot less than it is now, then an OBDII may be able to be used to access the option. Explore this only if the dealer will not adjust the delay at no charge or at a small cost.

You'll need to go to a auto forum for you model car and ask how it's done. You can be sure that if it is possible, then someone has done it and will show you how on that forum.

Been there. Guess I will just live with it as it is. At least the lights DO turn off.
