Removing this BMW coolant hose?
I have a BMW e90 (325i 2006) and I am trying to replace the oil filter housing gasket due to oil leak (apparently this is a common problem with this model). I need to remove 3 bolts as shown in the 2nd picture.
I was able to get number 1 and number 3 bolts out but number 2 is almost striped and i need more room to remove this bolt. The coolant hose is in the way, see first picture. The hose has a metal O ring, without any clamps, and i have no idea how to correctly remove the o ring and the hose? I tried pulling the hose (not too hard) but it wont budge. Does anyone know how to remove this so that the o ring and the hose are not damaged?

That looks like a standard hose clamp.
Are you sure the attaching bolt is not on the bottom where you can't see it ?
It has to be removable for service.

yes, I am sure there is no attaching bolt. Its a plain O ring (no clamps, clips or screws anywhere on the ring). There has to be a way to loosen the O ring first (before i give the hose a good pull), I just don't know how.

That's not just an o ring.... that is a stainless steel clamp of some type.
I doubt you would ever be able to pull that hose off.
BMW uses clamps that are crimped with special pliers. They get cut off with dykes and can be replaced with a worm gear type clamp.

Oh the European and Swedish cars.... One has to buy a shop of special tools to work on them....
Good vise grips may budge the bolt. Then you match bolt at hardware store.
I am presuming there is no room to slide GripTite socket onto it?
Another option is to cut bolt head off and then remove the stud with vise grips.
If it's indeed a clamp on you cut it and replace just like Pete said.
