I have a 1989 mercury grand marquis gs with the 5.0 302 v8. My valve cover gasket took a crap on me. Inorder to replace it you have to pull the plenum off also because you can not get valve cover off with plenum there. I got the new valve cover gaskets in got the new plenum gasket in got it all put back together and filled up the oil it was a tad low refilled antifreeze hooked battery up and started it and its running really really ruff. So i let it idle while i looked to see what the problem could be as soon as i got under the hood it was coming from behind the plenum between the plenum and the fire wall well thats where my pvc valve is. It has a t on it. Vacum line comes in on the side the pcv valve is on the bottom side of the T and pushes into the motor. On the other side of the T is an open nipple thats just sucking a ton of air so i put my finger over it to block off the air an it killed the car. Well i started looking for a vacum line that i didnt reconect and i can not find one. Evertrhing seems to be hooked up i have checked behind motor very well jacked up the vehicle got under to see if maybe a vacum line fell down on top of transmission or something and there is nothing there can not find a single line that is not hooked up. Please help me its my only vehicle and my wife is stuck at work. If i plug the t the car wont start at all i unplug the t and it starts but runs super ruff. I need help. Some one said to plug off the t and disconect the battery and let computer reset but i dont see how that would fix the issue? Is there something im missing. Thank you for your help. I looked at oreilly website to see what the pvc valve looks like qnd it looks just like what i have how ever they have 2 choices and one is just the t thing with the pcv valve the other is the same thing but has a little rubber plug thing but if i plug mine off it dies. Im so lost. Please help me. Thank you.Read More
Hi folks;
I have a 1994 Toyota Corolla base 1.6L. with 112000 miles that has a battery light that goes on intermittently. At first first it was random. Now it appears quite often.
Here is the background:
August; had same problem .Changed alternator and it ceased.
two weeks ago changed battery due to battery registering "Fair"
-Electrolyte was low, so refilled, (appeared to have splashed over battery and compartment, charged with battery charger and drove for fifty miles. Seemed fine. But as a precaution I replaced battery as the original was well past it's rated lifespan.
Recently the light has come back on but now more frequently to almost steady.
Voltage checked; Battery car off; 12V
car on (no load) 11.5
car on (load ON, heater, radio, lights,) fluctuates from as low 6v to 8.5v and never getting to 12v
This always seems to occur when car has reached operating temps. When car is cold NP!.
When light is ON and throttle is advanced to high revs the light WILL go out!
Of course light NEVER comes on when at shop and volts appear normal.
Is it possible that a diaode is bad or the internal regulator is bad in the alt?
Found a bad taillight lead in the trunk that is intermittent and awaiting the harness now.
Any hints, tips, steerage, guidance appreciated. Hate to buy a new car now and, since it is my late fathers car, would like to keep it running for awhile longer.Read More
