2007 Chrysler EGR valve code
When the check engine light appeared on the dash of my Chrysler (305 v6 1
04000 miles) I had the trouble code checked and it showed a faulty EGR valve. Since I had no change in the vehicle operation, my mechanic said it was probably stuck in an open position, which would not affect performance, just possibly emissons. He said that it would be 500 dollars or so to repair it. Is this a repair a reasonably handy person should attempt?

I can't say for certain on your particular car, but generally they are not terribly difficult. The rub comes, sometimes, with location and access. That and sometimes rusted up fasteners and connections.
If you search youtube, you'll probably be able to see someone doing it to get a feel for the job.
Model of Chrysler?
