Hyundai Accent exhaust system O.D.

Hi, I have a 2005 Hyundai Accent GLS. Does anyone know what the outside dimension of the exhaust system is. I need to make a repair by using a pipe connector slipped over the existing pipe instead of welding. Thanks.

Anytime that I had to do that, I went to the parts store to get the info & buy the coupling.. It's not easy to match the pipes.

It also depends where in the system it is and different sizes are usually used.

Get an inexpensive slide caliper to make the measurement. They start at around $7 and go up from there. I have several slide and dial types that work great for this.

Just search for "slide caliper".

Great idea. I never thought of using a slide caliper. I’ll have to give it a try. Thanks for all your info.

Od

The pipe outside diameter going into and out of the main muffler should be 1.75 inches. Not 100% sure, so you do need to do the caliper measurement, or just wrap a string around it, carefully measure the length and divide by 3.14 and that gives you the outside diameter.

Being an import, the exhaust diameter is probably specified in millimeters (mm). To convert inches to mm. multiply inches by 25.4. At a exhaust pipe joint, one pipe's OD has to match the mating pipe's ID.
