1997 Toyota Corolla rear speaker wire?

I just purchased a new-to-me 1997 Toyota Corolla CE - but really BASE vehicle. There are no rear speakers and I want to add them. I already put in a new radio and it looked like there were connections at the in-dash stereo harness that included rear speaker wires but I can find no such wires by the rear speakers openings or anywhere in the trunk. If the car was sold without rear speakers, would it still have had rear speaker wires run to the back when it was built? Since I can't easily see rear speaker wires in the back, where should I look in the trunk? Would they be part of the tail light wiring cable or would they be in a separate cable?

Yes..... the rear wires should be in place. They may be under the rear deck covering. Lift that up and look below.

The colors should be....
red = right rear +
white = right rear -
black = left rear +
yellow = left rear -
(Same at the radio)

Its difficult to say, there are many different combinations of harnesses for every car depending on the options.

The IP harness may have the connections but the chassis harness may not so somewhere there are loose connectors.

If not found may be simpler to just run new wires.
