1999 sienna oil dipstick

V6 1999 ANyone who has this van notice that the oil dipstick does not register
oil on the dipstick???It is apparently too short.I tried putting in a longer one and it showed oil... I guess you have to buy a new one, change the oil,
trim it to the correct length
based on when it shows oil but doesnt hit the rotating assembly..?????it doesnt seem Toyota would make a mistake like that..

Before you do anything I would change oil and put proper amount in and than check it. You could be low on oil.

Maybe a previous owner lost or damaged the original one and did not use the correct replacement? Regardless, yes, changing the oil, then marking the dipstick you have is what I would do. Just make sure that the one you have is not bottoming out, so that in case you need to trim it you can do it before you mark it.
