In looking around I didn't see any mention of known problems. However, with a vehicle that old any number of things could be leaking. Have you done a visual check to see what's leaking ?

I don't think any car is known for power steering leaks. Its a pretty important part of the safety of a modern vehicle. Would be the subject of recalls if the car was known for a problem in this critical area.
Steering rack seals wearing does happen on many cars at high mileages, including Toyota's. This is something you want to get fixed, even if expensive. But I would need to know more about where you see the leak manifesting, whether you are topping up and how quick the leak is, etc. Could be hoses, pump, fluid reservoir or the rack seals, the last one being the high cost rack replacement requirement.
