2009 Matrix: MAINT REQD flashing, ... What needs to be done?

Hello:
This morning, I noticed 'MAIN REOR' flashing upon started an engine. The car is '2009 MATRIC' which running REALLY well without any issues attached.

The flashing/warning sign appears to me I need to take it to the shop?

Thanks for any help in advance.

If the check engine light is flashing that normally means a serious issue. I'd at least hook up a code reader to see what it says. Many parts stores do that for free.

Like Pete said - what is a Matric??

Matric = Matrix.

And I assume main reor = maintenence required.

I love autocorrect.

Sorry, ..... '2009 Corolla MATRIX' which runs really well with low mileage. I'd plan to part-store for hooking-up. Seems no need to go to the shop which may charge me a lot.

On my 2009 Camry it means it is time to change the oil. I think 5000 miles since last reset. I forget exact reset procedure but I found it on a YouTube via a Google search.

Maint req'd, as Furd says, normally means oil change. As I recall, the message comes on when it's time for an oil change and FLASHES if you ignore it for more than a set number of miles, in other words oil change NOW.

Well, on my Toyotas it went from Maintenance Required Soon>Maintenance Required> to being unable to get out of that menu, as it will cover other vehicle information on display. THEN you MUST do maintenance.
Probably just oil. Honda tosses a specific maintenance item code on display, Toyota does not. Normal for Toyota is 5000 mile interval.
OP, change oil. No need to go to parts store for "hook up".

Here it is officially:

Illuminates for about 3 seconds
and then flashes for
about 15 seconds approximately
4500 miles (7200
km) after the engine oil is
changed: Indicates that the
engine oil is scheduled to be
changed.

Comes on and remains on if
the distance driven exceeds
5000 miles (8000 km): Indicates
that the engine oil
should be changed.
