Just removed the intake manifold on my 2011 Acura TL and was surprised to find oil puddled underneath the gasket. How would oil makes its way into this area? No oil inside air passages.
...perhaps it came from intake above and seeped down through the bolt hole? Doesn't seem very likely since there isn't really any sign of oil up there, other than an oily film, which I'm assuming is normal. PCV channels are gummed up, but not oily.
I'm in the process of replacing the valve covers on my 2011 Acura TL and found evidence of oil in the passages on the top of the intake manifold. Is this normal? I'm not sure how oil would have even gotten there. There are small holes in each intake runner that lead to this channel, then a vacuum line.
The intake sucks blowby air (and oil) from the PCV valve. Not surprising to find evidence of oil at all. Take the PCV valve out and you'll likely find oily residue in the hose and on the valve.
That bolt hole in the center of the stain looks suspicious...
Yeah, but that's where the oil settled, so it would have had to come from the intake manifold that sits on top, and there shouldn't be that much oil in the intake manifold, right?
So the tire guys at Costco showed me that the OEM lug nuts on my Fusion are not solid steel, but rather "plated" sort of, with a thin metal sheeting on the outside of the nut hat, over time, begins to distort and strip off. They suggested I replace them with a better quality nut, but I've never shopped for this part. Can you all recommend a good quality product that is solid steel? A satin (not chrome) finish is preferred. Thanks in advance.
I have the intake manifold removed from my engine (2011 Acura TL) and want to clean it thoroughly. Seems like the consensus is to use Purple Power, except it is corrosive and I've seen it etch aluminum in the past. Is there a better alternative? Foaming engine cleaner/degreaser perhaps?
