air pockets under drywall tape
what should be the best approach to fix or repair air pockets which seem to appear after applying first layer coat or sheet of joint compound ? do i remove the sections of tape with air pockets or can I puncture the sections of tape with air below and squeeze out the air ?

@marksr thanks. One more question when applying additional coat or layer should each subsequent layer cover over entirely each layer below it and like you said spreading out an additional 2"-3" further than the previous layer ?

@marksr thanks. another question if you have a 8" x 10" patch to replace. Where do you start when applying the first coat of joint compound ? Do you start slightly from the inside of the tape of one side or would you start on one one side but from the outside of the tape and for this size of patch repair would you cover the drywall paper sheet of the inside area (inside area between the taped sides) of the patch ?
