Turn signal switch

I have a 91 P30 step van, based on a chevy truck. The ability to self-cancel the turn signal from a left turn has stopped working. Right turn still self-cancels. Is the self -cancel built into the turn signal mechanism or is it a cam inside the steering shaft. Thanks,

Both...... a cam on the center hub hits the mechanism on the directional control. The directional control uses a spring to cancel each side and it may have broken. You'll need to pull the wheel off to get to the problem area.

Yeah..... there's nothing you can do without pulling it. All the guts are right below it.
Here's a great link on steering column work. It may not be identical to yours but it'll be close.

Common problem. I had two Chevy vans and it happened on both.
