Leaking Faucet

Son has a drip on the hot supply side, he can't seem to get it to stop. He tried some teflon tape on it, didn't help. I told him to clean everything up and reattach it and not make it too tight, it was pretty tight taking it off.

If that doesn't do it anything else he can try, I've never messed with anything like that?

He did buy this but I'm not sure what he could use that for.

Thanks

The line needs to be replaced with the same type or a braided line.
For braided lines, both the upper and lower compression fittings should be only hand-tight plus 1/4 turn with a wrench.
For PVC lines like you show, tighten the top nut hand tight plus 1/4 turn, tighten the valve compression nut hand tight plus one half to one full turn. A new PVC line will also require a new 3/8" plastic compression ring (delrin sleeve).

Here's the other picture he sent, no idea what all that is. I'm used to copper.

I tried calling to see if these go to valves or what....no answer. Not good.

Thanks

Just assume they do go to 3/8" compression valves, that's the most typical and what the lines look like.

All he needs are new faucet supply lines, they're easy to replace. Here's a link:

He just called back and said he does have valves under the sink. I'll have him buy that braided line and throw that gray stuff in the garbage. Perfect!

Thanks very much!
