leaking connection from wall pipe to p-trap in utility sink.

So sink was pretty clogged, since its a utility sink and the trap is easy to get to, I removed it and cleaned it out, not very carefully. I putt it together, but it now leaks. I'm guessing its because of these dents I make while was cleaning it out: Name: pipe one.jpg

well, now the connection leaks. Is this damage the likely culporate, or was there a seal or gasket or something i inedvertantly threw out?

here is a picture of the coupling:

The trap is not in the best of shape but should be salvageable.
You will need some Teflon paste, not tape.
Look at the top picture. You can only drop the large nut down a little. Drop the nut down as is or a little further down and apply Teflon paste to the outside and inside of the beveled edge of the lower compression fitting. You don't need paste at the threads, only at the beveled mating surfaces.

Don't buy pipe dope that contains TFE, purchase true TFE paste. The paste is very dense and normally a cure-all for stubborn leaks.

Yes. Ensure all parts are completely dry before applying the paste. Wet parts won't let you smear the paste very well. Sink can be used immediately after assembly.
