P-Trap for Laundry Drain
The Setup: My laundry room sits in what was once the garage. It's on a slab floor next to a crawlspace. The Drainpipe for the washer stands in the corner and works well enough, however I've discovered that this drain has no P-Trap. I would like to remedy this as I suspect it is not to code and occasionally there is a bad odor out of that drain.
The drainpipe meets the floor and then forms an "L" and goes into the crawlspace where it travels about 10 feet (at a low angle) before joining the drain system.
My choices are:
1) Put in a regular p-Trap, though this might lower the drain in the crawlspace enough to affect drainage.
or
2) use a set of 4, 90 degree elbows to create a U shaped trap in the line.
Which would be best?

Im unsure how to go about that. since the L of the current drain goes through the wall at the floor level, and the P-Trap would raise the drain about an inch and a half, it would mean cutting a new hole, or at least widening the current hole - which is in cinder block. I'm not a fan of doing that.
Would either of my suggestions work and be to code?
