Worm clamp for ear clamp

I was wondering if an ear clamp can be replaced with say a worm clamp. I needed to check a hose connection on my dishwasher and it had an ear clamp on it. I flipped off the one end of it and it let go so I now need to replace that clamp. Ear clamps seem to be such a pain to me as I don't have the pinch tool they need (unless there is hack for that) so I would like to use a worm clamp. Is there an issue with doing that? I'm asking because the manufacturer obviously used the ear clamp there for a reason. Thanks

Worm gear clamps are about four times the cost of the one-shot clamp. As long as you have the necessary room the worm gear clamp is superior. Be careful if you are clamping to a plastic fitting that you do not use excessive force in tightening the clamp.
