Black gas pipe in basement ceiling.?

I am in the process of installing an Armstrong plank ceiling in our basement. Is it OK to cover the black gas pipe line (threaded fittings) in the ceiling behind the planking? Or does this need to stay exposed?

It is okay to cover however if there are any valves they must remain accessible.

So every elbow needs an access hole? How big of an access is required? Just enough to check for leaks?

Nobody mentioned anything about elbows. VALVES must be accessible. Unions are VERY rarely (if ever) located anywhere but at the appliances.
