Calcium buildup on my copper pipes

Hi,
Just wondering how big of a problem this is? I have some green and white residue on my copper piping. I read somewhere that I could just clean the residue with vinegar or CLR, but not sure if that would break a hole in the pipe.

Would it be safer just to replace that section of the pipe or is it ok to clean it off? Vinegar, CLR or something else?

Thanks in advance

Mineral build up like that is from a leak. Cleaning the mineral deposits away may actually make the leak worse. I would plan on replacing the fittings and pipe in that area unless you find a leak above somewhere that is dripping down onto the pipes.

That's the most common cause, replace it all with PEX and never have to deal with it again.
