Factory wax ring -- good to use or buy a better/thicker one?

hello.
i bought a new toilet and it comes with a wax ring.

The factory wax ring seems to be a bit thiner - should i use it or buy a new one, which is much thicker?

Does thinner means less life expectancy? This is not something i would like to replace often so i want to get it right.

thanks

For the price of a wax ring I'd buy a better one.
Thinner doesn't mean shorter life but if too thin it may not seal properly.

I think after you've set a few toilets you understand how much 'squish' you should get out of the wax ring. As long as you get that amount, I would be fine with the ring provided. That said, if you're aware of any reason ahead of time that you might need a thicker ring than usual, then I would not attempt the one provided.

I usually splurge and go for the wax ring with the rubber gasket. Just another level of safety for future leaks for an extra dollar or so.
