Tub p-trap pan in slab
First time post as a last effort at an answer.
Replacing a tub, I found that the pan in the slab foundation containing p-trap was broken out at the bottom. There were a bunch of spiders and vermin debris in there so I'm not sure if they can from under the foundation or from above but settled there because it's the lowest coolest point. I'm in California.
Can I seal up the cracked pan? Or might this have been intentional for drainage or some other reason? I know sometimes a pan like his isn't even installed.
Thanks so much for any info on this!

Welcome to the forums ! Generally that plastic "pan" is just there to hold back the gravel and concrete when it is poured. It serves no sealing purpose and often is cut, moved, pulled out, etc. whenever plumbers do their work, as sometimes they have to go a little beyond the edges to make things fit.
It is a cool area, but the vermin, etc. probably didn't come in from any crack. They came from above and just settled in that cool area.
