connecting two grill flexible ng hoses

Have just replaced a natural gas barbecue grill with a new Weber NG grill and needed an extension flexible hose to add to the 7' half inch flexible hose that came with the grill.

I bought a 10' matching 1/2 " identical hose with a quick connect to extend the hose run but find I cannot piggyback them as I now have two hoses with two free female 3/8" connectors and the only logical way to connect them is by a small 3/8" gas pipe union nipple.

Can I use a gas pipe union to connect the two hoses?Name: IMG_2865.jpg

Wait for the pros on this one. It looks like those are two different fittings. The one on the left looks like it's expecting a flanged fitting, while the one on the right looks like it has some kind of center pin in it.

I'm not a flexible gas piping expert, so I'll defer to others.

I would seriously look at extending the hard pipe rather than using 17' of flex. I've never used a flex longer than 3' although I believe 4' are allowed where I work(ed).
