Teflon tape or thread sealer, and pressure question

I'm about to replace the pressure relief valve by the bladder tank. Will teflon tape suffice, or should I use thread sealer...which is what was used previously?

Also, the water conditioning guy was here a while back and he boosted the pressure at the pressure switch from ~25-45 to ~45-65. And hence, the leaking relief valve...the pressure was going up to ~72 on the gauge, which is new. I reduced the pressure to ~40-60.

I'll check the air pressure at the bladder after I drain the water, and adjust the pressure for a 40-60, i.e., ~38. This is a system with a deep well.

Is this a safe strategy?

Ti's a standard relief valve that tee's off the line from the bladder tank to feed the house. It's brass, 1/2 in male threads into galvanized 1/2 in female threads in pipe.

I do the same as Mike, tape and Teflon paste over the tape. No leaks and no callbacks, which is what I like.
