compression fitting

you know how a compression fitting goes on copper and cinches up on threads on the other pipe. Is there a compression type fitting that goes on copper that makes the other threaded end??

If you are connecting 2 pieces of copper tubing together you need 2 ferrules, 2 compression nuts and a coupling to interface with the ferrules and provide threads for attaching the compression nuts. Hope this helps.

A compression fitting compresses on the copper pipe. The fitting has the threads...not the pipe.

Do you mean a male versus female compression fitting ?
What are you trying to do ?

Hard to tell from your description exactly what it is your asking.
Are you trying to connect copper tubing to a threaded pipe?
If so you need one of these.

There are compression fittings that will adapt standard 1/2" (5/8" OD) copper to 1/2" pipe threads.

I would recommend a sharkbite adapter which is easier to install. Just cut the pipe square, debur it and clean the copper with emery cloth.
Mark the copper first with a pencil at 7/8" depth to ensure the fitting is pushed on to full depth/fully seated.
A push on fitting is fully seated at around 3/4".

I don't want to be rude but stop everything you are doing and ignore what I posted.

When you are talking compression fittings, you are talking water, not gas.

See the link above to insert pictures or call the local gas company for specs.

STOP.
CSSX HomeFlex gas line
That isn't copper tubing. Answers given apply to copper tubing not corrugated stainless steel gas tubing that requires different types of fittings.

You also need to use a cutter designed for stainless steel pipe.
