PVC fitting not fitting

I'm replacing a bathtub with a walk in shower. I have to move the drain. I cut the old drain out after the trap. Here's the issue...the drain pipe is 2" but 2" fitting will not fit, the drain pipe seems slightly too large. Is it possible it's no longer round but slightly oval? Is that a thing? All the old fittings are 2". Can this be fixed without serious work?

Welcome to the forums.

Is this pipe PVC..... ABS ?
A 2" fitting is a 2" fitting. You should be able to see if the pipe is not round.

PVC. It's hard to tell from the angle I'm looking from. But I don't what else it could be.

If the pipe wasn't cut cleanly it could have burrs on it making the coupler tight.

I thought about a rubber coupling with clamps but don't know how long it would last under the foundation and all.

Are we talking about a crawl space or buried underground?

No coupling style connections under a slab, bad idea!

Some pictures would help. but a unless you are mixing up different types of fittings they should fit!
