threading black pipe

I think they will, but it probably varies by store somewhat. When I worked there we'd do one cut and thread the ends for free.
Had a guy come in, wanted 2-10ft lengths cut and threaded in 1ft pieces for some sort of artsy thing. After the first cut and 2 threadings, we charged $.50 per cut and $.50 per thread...so an additional $1.50 per piece. Still way cheaper for him than buying shorter lengths. Royal PITA for us since we still had other work to do, plus customers to help.
This was 10 yrs ago and on the other coast, things may be different now for you. Heck, they got rid of the glass cutting since then.

Check with your store. Many have removed the threading machine and now only sell lengths of pipe pre-threaded.

They do it around here. Most of the guys don't even charge for it. They do a pretty good job too as the machine they have is pretty sophisticated. Much better than the one at Lowe's. You just pay for the pipe with the label/UPC code still on it and they scan it out.
There's endless drama in some of the forums about the Chinese fittings and pipes on offer at Home Depot and Lowe's, but honestly they work just fine. I have used them for gas lines, and always got perfect pressure tests even over 48 hours at pretty high pressure. Even my plumber said that while USA-made fittings may be a little better and more precise, proper use of pipe dope should solve any issues. The problem with much of the American stuff is that it is much more costly.
