Water heater power vent will not shut off

we have a water heater that works great but the power vent inducer will not shut off. How can we fix it? We shut off the water heater to make sure the power vent won't burn out but I need the hot water so can you help?

You can start by telling us what water heater you have... What is the brand and model number?

I honestly don't know much about them, but my model has a small tube connected to a pressure switch that senses a pressure change when the heater turns on. I understand that the tube can become clogged - or the pressure switch can fail.

Others with more experience with power vented heaters can probably give better advice though.

I cannot find any listing anywhere for that water heater. No series listed like that at State either.

Limit switch... I doubt it.
The pressure switch only allows combustion to take place when the proper flu pressure is sensed.

Your problem sounds like either a stuck relay inside the controller or it may possibly be a variable speed venter in which case the variable speed supply is shorted on.

How old is the unit ? Possibly under warranty ?
