How do I connect a 3/8" plastic hose to a 6" PVC drain pipe?
Hello,
I am planning an installation of a GE water softener in my home. The backwash drain hose is 3/8" ID. I want to tie the backwash drain hose into a 6" PVC waste drain pipe. There is a horizontal section of waste pipe at approx. 7' above the basement floor. The horizontal run turns into a vertical run with a clean-out near the basement floor. I would appreciate any advice on how to accomplish this task. Thanks

Is there no way to connect the drain to a nearby sink? I would check with the building department but I believe you cannot drain anything directly into a main waste line.
You would need an air gap and trap similar to below, or a branch tailpiece connected to a kitchen or lavatory sink.
I would talk to an inspector so that you can install the drain as easy as possible.

There must be an air break and trap.
You could post a picture or two of your drain lines there for further comment.
