Hose to Hydrant

Hi Folks,

I stuck a wall hydrant to an old wine barrel that I want to feed with a garden hose as a water supply away from the house.

I bought a 1/2 to 3/4 piece to adapt the hose to the hydrant, my oversight was that they are threaded differently. Any ideas on a quick way to hook this up?

I would appreciate any insight.

You should be able to find a hose (I think it is 5/8" hose) to NPT adapter fitting at a larger home store. They will be typically made of brass.

Beauty, I didn't know what NPT was and that it is different than Garden Hose Thread.

Thank you.

Yea, NPT which is used on most pipe fittings is a tapered. Garden hose threads are straight and rely on smooth mating surfaces and a gasket to form the seal.
