Kitchen sink: sudden backup
Visiting a relative, whose kitchen sink has backed up suddenly. Relative says the sink was draining normally, but earlier this week she had a new sink installed in the bathroom next to the kitchen.
The kitchen sink filled and didn't drain; over a period of time the water gradually receded but then filled again, apparently "reverse draining" from the plumbing system?
There's also a dishwasher that connects to sink plumbing. The house was built in the late 1950s or early 60s.
The backflow problem is concerning. What causes that, and can you recommend a fix?
Thanks!
