PEX plug sharkbite to copper - long term?

Found a cut 1/2" copper pipe with a PEX sharkbite plug on it to prevent water coming out. Ie it's terminated there. The old continuation of pipe was left open. Is it ok long term to leave a copper pipe like this or should it be soldered and then forfl closed up?

I love shark bite caps for temp closing off of pipes during plumbing work, but personally I would never use any of them for any kind of long term use,
