The shower and toilet bowls water levels and drainage

After taking a long shower the toilets and the shower on the ground level of a 2 story house donít drain or the water level in the toilet bowls get very low. I am guessing this is a blocked vent pipe issue but wanted to check if there may be any other reasons for this as I have a very steep roof and some articles on the internet suggest that I need to drop a garden hose in the vent pipe and run the water in it for a while to break the blockage. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think that could also be a blockage in the main sewer line. If you use a lot of water the water can back up in the piping and it could take a lot of time for that water to eventually drain out Ė that is, if there is some blockage. I think it would affect the lowest fixtures in the house first if it was a blockage in the main sewer line. Those would be the closest to the blockage.

But that could be wrong, I'm not an expert. Hopefully the guys that know more will be along.

Sounds like a blocked drain line.
