Problems With Threaded Gas Pipe

Hello,

I just finished a custom desktop and planned on setting it in a black gas pipe frame. I went with one inch pipe to compliment the heft of the rest of the desk. A box store cut and threaded the pipe for me. However, they cut a few pieces of the pipe to long(a cole legs are about an inch to long or short.

The pipe needs to be recut and threaded but I don't think all of the threads need to be cut off. Is the Pipe ruined? Or can it be shortened and rethreaded still?

The pipe can be cut to the length needed and re-threaded. If some of the old threads remain they should take care to make sure the new threads match/line up with the old.

The die that cuts the threads also cuts the taper into the threads.
