Questions on installing new shower.
I am 6'4" and can almost see over my shower door and part of my head is over the top of the shower itself. I want to replace the shower stall but not sure if I can do it myself. Here are a few questions I have.
1. is there a standard location of the drain or will I have to relocate it?
2. It has pex piping so I will have to extend it or put new lines in from the closest joint?
3. Is there a standard shower stall insert or will I have to measure?
4. What would it cost to have a shower installed if I rip out the old one and supply the shower? I am in South Carolina if that affects cost.
5. Is this a DIY job or better to leave it to the professionals?
6. What other considerations do I need to account for?
Thanks

Yes it's a DIY project but there is nothing "standard". Drain, valve location and size may be similar but that would have to be verified by each manufacturer and model.
Raising the shower head obviously will require the wall to be opened up and the plumbing and fittings replaced,

There are some standard sizes for shower pans, so you might be lucky to get the same size with the drain in the same location. Still quite a bit of work, but it sounds like you have the basics down.
What type of shower surround are you planning? Pre-fab, tile?
