sewer reline

How big of an area around the cleanout needs to be available if you have a sewer reline? When we bought our house the previous owner put in a concrete patio. In one part of the slab they planted a bush. We thought that this was odd so we ripped out the bush and filled the area in with concrete. It is about 3-4' square. Come to find out this is where one of the cleanouts is. (They never told us) We have since put in a free standing deck. When the deck gets replaced we are going to take out the concrete that we put in and put a trap door in the deck to be able to access the cleanout. Is the 3-4' area going to be big enough to do a reline? I've got my fingers crossed that we never have to have it done.

How big an area needed for access depends on the method for relining and the equipment the contractor uses. Talk to who will do the work and they can tell you how much access they will need. Also, you may want to line the sewer from end to end and not just start or stop at the cleanout.
