Is this a brass siphon or aspirator for water?
I have a brass -4" - with male and female screw fittings and in between there is a rectangular hole.
Could be an aspirator or a siphon. But I have tried using it and it does not do anything.
I placed two hoses on the ends and submerged the brass connector into a bucket of water. All that happened was more water came into the bucket from the water connection.
Have attached photos
Thanks for any information. Maybe it doesn't event belong to a water hose.

A siphon would require a nozzle on the incoming side.
That would have to be something used under low pressure. It looks like it may have been attached to the bottom of something as the four pins in the corner look like they were in something.... like rivets.

Never noticed that. Doesn't sound like anything I have use for. Been in a box in the basement.
So I guess it is just going to go into the metal recycling.
Appreciate your answer.
Thanks
