PEX Plastic hose used outdoors?

I have a water faucet (deteriorating) outside that is almost touching the ground . I barely have room for a hose. The faucet is sunk into the wall and soldered on. I was wondering if plastic PEX hose can be used to extend a new extension 3 ft off the ground for easier access. I would sweat old one off, Pex an elbow with a drain for winter and extend it the desired height for more manageable function.
Thx for input!

Most PEX tubing is NOT UV protected. It will degrade in the sun and should not be used where it is exposed to light.

I cannot see why this would not work.

If you have a drain inside the house then you should not need a second one.
Just need a bigger pail to catch the water.

It would work if you put the drain on the horizontal section running into the house.

Not a lot of sun on this section of the house. Plus the are some big bushes to basically keep it shaded and protected from elements.
I don't have easy access from the inside!
I am working on pix.

If it's outside, I wouldn't use PEX outside above-ground.

Instead, I would extend vertically using copper pipe. Either soldered or using a SharkBite connector. The copper pipe will be easier to secure to the side of the house along with the new faucet, and will be more reliable long-term.

ANY sun is bad for PEX. PEX can not be used where it is exposed to any sunlight unless you get some that is UV protected and intended for long term outdoor, exposed use. Be careful when shopping. Most PEX contains some UV protection good for 60 - 90 days so it can survive when a house is under construction.
