Yes, looks like a drum trap. Most modern codes don't allow them for new use anymore; they've been replaced by P traps. P traps self clean better than drum traps and drum traps are often a real pain to clean out if (when) they get clogged.

I remember one of these in my house when I was kid. My dad had to clean this thing out about twice a year.
