Drain clog

Noticed smelly black grime in laundry sink. I know this came from drain ( had a overflow 1 year back) .
There was no water logging.
Used everything from vinegar-baking soda to drano and water is flowing great.
Do I need to be concerned and perform snaking ?

A related question, can I cause any damage if the snaking is improper

Does your clothes washer discharge into the sink ?
The lint can cause buildups and clogs.
Many times the lint gets caught on a rough pipe edge or fitting.

If your drain is running ok now.... there isn't much to snake.
If it clogs in the future better to snake then to use chemicals.

Pretty hard to damage the plumbing with a hand snake.
Power snakes are a different matter.
